Join our team as a Yard Jockey, where you will play a vital role in efficiently managing the movement of trucks and trailers within our yard. This position involves loading and unloading trailers with a forklift. CDL Class A is a must!
Responsibilities
- Safely operate yard trucks with manual transmissions to move trailers around the facility and loading areas
- Load and unload freight from trailers, ensuring proper handling and securement of product such as pallets of wood or pallets of wood pellets
- Maneuver tractor-trailers into designated parking spots or loading bays with precision and adherence to safety protocols
- Conduct routine inspections of trailers and yard trucks to identify maintenance needs or safety issues
- Use a forklift to load or unload the trailer
Experience
- Proven experience driving commercial vehicles such as tractor-trailers
- Familiarity with manual transmission truck operation and yard maneuvering techniques
- Prior experience with freight handling, load & unload procedures, and trailer positioning in a busy yard environment
- Knowledge of safety standards related to truck driving and yard operations
- Ability to operate additional equipment, such as forklifts
If you are looking for Full-Time, this job would come with all the benefits. You would be responsible for loading and unloading trailers with a forklift and taking them to the different locations around the mill. When there is downtime you would be moved to help in other labor jobs around the mill.
If you are just looking for part-time CDL work we can accommodate that also. We can make up a schedule that works for both of us. Part-time does not include benefits.
Pay: $16.00 – $17.00 per hour
