WEEKEND DISPATCHER
EOS Trucking
Schedule: Friday, Saturday & Sunday — 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM
Position Type: Full-Time-In Person
EOS Trucking is seeking a dependable, organized, and proactive Weekend Dispatcher to join our operations team. This position plays an important role in keeping our fleet moving safely and efficiently throughout the weekend.
The ideal candidate is someone who can think on their feet, communicate effectively with professional drivers, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced trucking environment. This is not simply a position answering weekend phone calls—you will be actively involved in dispatching, load planning, driver support, and coordinating over-the-road breakdowns.
Key Responsibilities
- Dispatch and monitor drivers throughout Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
- Assist with load planning and trip planning to keep drivers productive and freight moving efficiently.
- Monitor loads, driver locations, pickup appointments, delivery appointments, and service requirements.
- Communicate load information, schedule changes, and operational instructions clearly to drivers.
- Coordinate with drivers regarding delays, detention, customer issues, equipment problems, and other situations that may affect service.
- Handle over-the-road breakdowns, including communicating with drivers, maintenance providers, repair facilities, and towing services when necessary.
- Help determine the best course of action when equipment issues occur to minimize driver and freight downtime.
- Monitor Hours of Service and driver availability when making dispatch and planning decisions.
- Assist drivers with questions and operational issues that arise throughout the shift.
- Communicate service failures, accidents, breakdowns, late loads, and other significant issues to management.
- Maintain accurate notes and documentation regarding loads, driver communication, breakdowns, and other weekend activity.
- Provide a clear handoff to the weekday operations team regarding outstanding issues, equipment status, driver concerns, and freight requiring follow-up.
- Work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Safety, and other departments as needed.
What We’re Looking For
- Previous trucking, transportation, logistics, or dispatch experience strongly preferred.
- Experience working with over-the-road drivers is preferred.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to remain calm and professional when handling breakdowns, delays, driver concerns, and time-sensitive situations.
- Strong communication skills and the willingness to pick up the phone and communicate directly with drivers.
- Ability to prioritize multiple drivers, loads, and issues at the same time.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Basic understanding of Hours of Service, trucking operations, and equipment is preferred.
- Comfortable working independently and making appropriate operational decisions when management may not be immediately available.
- Dependable and able to consistently work the required weekend schedule.
Schedule
This position works a consistent three-day weekend schedule:
Friday: 6:30 AM – 6:30 PM
Saturday: 6:30 AM – 6:30 PM
Sunday: 6:30 AM – 6:30 PM
The position works three 12-hour shifts each week, providing a consistent schedule with four days off.
