This role is an in‑office position based at our 91 Judson Street, Etobicoke location. Our team is highly collaborative, and much of our work benefits from in‑person co‑creation, relationship‑building, and hands‑on partnership with leaders across the organization.
Our Operations, Rail & Fleet Maintenance Office is seeking a Vice President, Rail Fleet Maintenance. Reporting to the Executive Vice President you will serve as the senior executive accountable for a safe, reliable, and cost‑effective performance of Metrolinx’s rail fleets and maintenance facilities. This role provides enterprise leadership for the full lifecycle stewardship of GO Rail and UP Express assets, ensuring that trains, systems, and facilities are maintained to the highest standards of safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance.
The Vice President, Rail Fleet Maintenance will oversee the daily presentation and operational readiness of the GO and UP Express fleets, ensuring consistent delivery of high‑quality passenger service. A critical mandate of the role is preparing the organization for the operational demands of GO Expansion, including the transition to two‑way, all‑day, (15) fifteen‑minute service across core corridors.

- Ensures rail assets are safe, reliable, and meet customer, regulatory, and government expectations
- Integrates maintenance priorities into enterprise planning through cross‑functional collaboration
- Engages governments, regulators, and industry partners to align with policy and best practices
- Provides executive leadership for safe, efficient operations and a culture of continuous improvement and risk management
- Develops future‑ready maintenance strategies to support GO Rail Expansion and evolving service needs
- Maximizes asset performance through contract management, vendor oversight, and data‑driven decisions
- Leads high‑performing teams and organizational design to deliver efficient, integrated maintenance programs
- Oversees risk, performance metrics, and continuous improvement to ensure operational excellence and resilience
- Holds enterprise accountability for rail asset maintenance, lifecycle management, and commissioning of new infrastructure and fleet
- Serves as Accountable Executive under the Railway Safety Act, ensuring compliance and safe operations
- Leads resiliency and business continuity planning for operational and security risks
- Oversees commercial strategy, including fleet contracts and supplier performance, aligned with corporate objectives
- Leads long‑term planning, budgeting, and investment decisions with a focus on insight, discipline, and value
What
Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
- Degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in large‑scale fleet maintenance and transportation operations
