Role Description The LTL Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in Calgary, AB. This role is responsible for coordinating less-than-truckload (LTL) shipments, including booking, scheduling, and tracking freight from origin to destination. The LTL Specialist communicates with customers, carriers, and internal teams to provide accurate quotes, transit times, and shipment updates. Daily tasks include creating and managing documentation, verifying rates, monitoring service performance, and resolving any shipping or delivery issues. The role also involves optimizing loads, ensuring compliance with company safety standards, and supporting continuous improvement in service quality and operational efficiency.
Qualifications
- Experience in LTL freight operations, trucking, or intermodal logistics, with a solid understanding of routing, rates, and transit times.
- Strong customer service and communication skills, with the ability to handle inquiries, provide updates, and resolve issues professionally.
- Proficiency with transportation management systems (TMS), shipment tracking tools, and basic computer applications (e.g., MS Office).
- Attention to detail and organizational skills for managing documentation, scheduling, and multiple shipments simultaneously.
- Ability to work on-site in Calgary, AB, collaborate with drivers and yard staff, and support a safety-focused operational environment.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced, time-sensitive logistics setting.
- Previous experience in Canadian freight, intermodal operations, or container storage environments is an asset.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in logistics, supply chain, or a related field is considered an advantage.
