Our client is seeking an experienced and strategic Vice President of Supply Chain to lead procurement, logistics, and supply chain operations at an executive level.
The Vice President of Supply Chain is responsible for leading procurement, supply chain strategy and execution, including procurement, raw material inventory planning, inbound and outbound logistics, and supply chain network optimization. This role oversees the sourcing and purchasing of all raw materials, components, outsourced finished goods, and operational supplies required to support manufacturing and distribution operations. They will ensure the company maintains reliable supply, competitive cost structures, and efficient logistics networks to support growth and operational objectives. In addition, the VP will lead teams responsible for supplier negotiations, purchasing execution, external freight management, and inventory planning while driving cross-functional engagement for continuous improvement across the company's supply chain infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
Procurement & Strategic Sourcing
- Oversee all company purchasing activities including raw materials, packaging components, outsourced finished goods, and operational supplies.
- Lead strategic sourcing initiatives to ensure cost competitiveness, supply reliability, and supplier performance.
- Direct purchasing teams responsible for negotiating pricing, placing purchase orders, and maintaining strong supplier relationships.
- Manage sourcing for key materials including:
- Fluids such as base oils, additives, and other liquid inputs
- Dry packaging components including bottles, boxes, labels, drums, pails, totes, and caps
- Outsourced products including DEF, brake fluid, coolant, fuels, and other externally produced products
- Non-inventory operational supplies including pallets, stretch wrap, and facility materials
- Develop long-term supplier partnerships and negotiate contracts to optimize pricing, quality, and supply continuity.
Inventory & Manufacturing Supply
- Ensure adequate inventory levels are maintained to support manufacturing schedules and customer demand.
- Oversee inventory planning processes to balance working capital efficiency with production reliability.
- Coordinate closely with planning, manufacturing, and operations teams to ensure proper material availability.
Logistics & Freight Management
- Manage all inbound and outbound logistics operations across the company.
- Oversee freight scheduling, carrier negotiations, and transportation planning.
- Lead relationships with freight partners across multiple transportation modes including:
- Dry van full truckload (FTL)
- Less-than-truckload (LTL)
- Liquid bulk trucking
- Export containers and flexibags
- Rail transportation for liquid products
- Ensure efficient transportation execution while maintaining service reliability and cost control.
- Engage with TMS and other software solutions that streamline operations and processes.
Supply Chain Optimization
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize the company's supply chain network and distribution footprint.
- Identify opportunities to improve shipping efficiency through:
- Strategic placement of distribution centers
- Freight consolidation and routing optimization
- Inventory positioning
- Manage freight flows between suppliers to manufacturing sites and distribution centers to customers to improve overall network performance.
Leadership & Strategic Planning
- Provide leadership and direction to purchasing, logistics, and supply chain personnel.
- Develop scalable supply chain processes to support business growth and operational efficiency.
- Establish performance metrics and reporting to track supply chain effectiveness.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce costs, improve service levels, and strengthen operational resilience.
- Participate in executive-level organizational planning for long-term corporate strategy.
Qualifications:
- Sound knowledge of supply chain management, procurement, and logistics.
- Strong experience negotiating supplier contracts and freight agreements.
- Expertise in transportation modes including truckload, LTL, bulk liquids, rail, and international freight.
- Strong analytical and strategic planning skills related to supply chain optimization.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams across procurement, logistics, and manufacturing.
- Strong financial and cost management capabilities.
- Excellent negotiation, leadership, and relationship management skills.
- Drive for cross-functional engagement within organizational departments to achieve improvements in processes and solutions.
- Ability to manage complex supply networks and multiple supplier relationships.
