SUMMARY:
Responsible for driving a tractor-trailer combination or a truck with a capacity of at least 26,001 pounds Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) to haul structural steel. Home every night!
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Follow all applicable State and Federal laws.
- Haul structural steel, joists, beams, and trusses.
- Load and unload cargo using a forklift; must be certified.
- Perform pre- and post-trip inspections.
- Maintain truck and associated equipment, ensure they are kept clean and in good working order, and report any serious mechanical issues to the appropriate personnel.
- Report defects, accidents, and violations.
- Ensure truck and associated equipment have up-to-date paperwork as required.
- Monitor road and weather conditions using practical judgment.
- Plan routes using maps or GPS to meet delivery schedules.
- Secure cargo and properly arrange and balance freight to prevent movement and ensure safe transportation.
- Use of ELD while operating; maintain a detailed log of working hours in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Verifying the loads for accuracy.
- Record nonconformances in compliance with AISC standards.
- Interacting with customers in a professional manner.
- Assist in the shipping yard during downtime.
- Perform other related duties as required, directed, or as the situation dictates.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid Class A CDL driver’s license, clean driving record, and a current health card.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Five to Seven years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment and random drug and/or alcohol testing.
- Must be willing to work in varing weather conditions.
- Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs.

Pay: $25.00 – $28.00 per hour
