Responsibilities Include
Providing safe and reliable transportation by operating various vehicles including sedans, vans, shuttles, and buses, with fixed or changing routes.
Reporting maintenance issues and ensuring vehicle safety.
Maintaining punctuality and safety during routes.
Assisting passengers in emergencies and managing passenger behavior.
Reporting accidents and incidents promptly.
Keeping vehicles clean and presentable.
Presenting a professional appearance.
Ensuring vehicles are fueled and ready.
Completing required paperwork timely.
Fostering a cooperative attitude with colleagues and customers.
Preparing vehicles for weather conditions and utilizing vehicle equipment safely.
Performing other duties as assigned.
Additional duties for Paratransit Drivers may include assisting senior or disabled passengers, using wheelchair lifts, and providing individualized assistance.
Qualifications
Minimum age of 21, or 25 for Tennessee School Bus Drivers.
Valid applicable state driver’s license and certifications.
Physical and medical fitness, passing substance screening.
Completion of training and safety meetings.
Knowledge of traffic laws.
Strong communication skills.
Ability to assist passengers physically.
Safe driving practices and defensive driving skills.
All applicants start as Driver Trainees and must complete training before becoming drivers.
