About the role

The Senior Shipping Executive/ Assistant Shipping Manager is responsible for supporting and overseeing day-to-day shipping agency and terminal operations, ensuring smooth vessel attendance, port coordination, cargo handling, documentation, and customer service delivery. The role works closely with Masters, Principals, Contractors, Shippers and Consignees, port authorities, contractors and internal departments to ensure operational efficiency, compliance, and timely turnaround of vessels.

Key Responsibilitie

  • Coordinate vessel arrival, berthing, loading, discharging, shifting and departure arrangement
  • Liaise and co-ordinate with PSA Port Control on yard space allocation for cargo loading and/or discharging
  • Ensure all pre-arrival, port stay, and post-departure formalities are completed accurately and on time
  • Monitor vessel schedules and provide timely updates to principals, owners, charterers, and internal stakeholders
  • Attend vessels when required and ensure smooth communication between vessel command, port users, and service providers
  • Support daily terminal activities, including cargo planning, loading and discharging coordination, yard operations, and gate activities
  • Oversee preparation and submission of shipping documents, port clearances, cargo documents, customs declarations, permits, manifests, and related reports
  • Act as a main point of contact for principals, vessel masters, port users, customers and service providers
  • Supervise and guide shipping executives, clerks and operational staff
  • Promote safe working practices during vessel attendance, terminal operations, and cargo handling activities

Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in Maritime Studies, Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or related discipline
  • Relevant experience in shipping agency, port operations, terminal operations, logistics or cargo operations
  • Prior supervisory experience is preferred
  • Good understanding of vessel operations, port procedures, cargo documentation and terminal processes
  • Able to work irregular hours, weekends or public holidays when vessel operations require
  • Good communication and coordination skills
  • Able to work under pressure, respond to operational issues, and support after-hours vessel or terminal requirements when necessary
