Title: Business Development Manager (Sea Freight)

1. Position Purpose
Responsible for driving revenue growth and market share in the Sea Freight segment (FCL/LCL, export & import), building and expanding the customer/agent network, and shaping sea freight business strategy in line with the company’s growth targets.
2. Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Client Management
- Identify, approach, and develop new customers (direct shippers, partner forwarders, cross-trade) for the sea freight segment.
- Build and maintain relationships with carriers, NVOCCs, and overseas agents to secure competitive rates and capacity (space/equipment).
- Lead contract negotiations, rate discussions, and commercial terms with key/strategic accounts.
- Develop sales plans and revenue targets on a monthly/quarterly/annual basis and take ownership of achieving them.
Team & Operations Management
- Manage, train, and guide the Sales/BDE team within the sea freight segment (if applicable).
- Work closely with Operations, Pricing, and Customer Service to ensure end-to-end service delivery for clients.
- Track and report on business performance (revenue, volume, profit margin) to management on a regular basis.
Strategy & Market Insight
- Analyze market trends, competitors (Bee Logistics, Gemadept, Voltrans, etc.), route developments, and freight rate fluctuations to propose pricing and market expansion strategies.
- Recommend new potential trade lanes/markets to expand the agent network.
- Build and maintain relationships with strategic partners and industry associations.
3. Candidate Requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, International Trade, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 10 years of sales/business development experience in freight forwarding, with a strong preference for sea freight specialization; at least 5 years in a managerial/team lead role.
- Forwarder-side experience required (shipper-side or pure outsourced logistics experience does not count).
Professional Knowledge
- Solid understanding of FCL/LCL processes, Incoterms, freight rates, surcharges, booking procedures, HBL/MBL.
- An existing network with carriers and overseas agents is a strong advantage.
- Knowledge of regional sea freight market dynamics (Southeast Asia, China, Europe, US — depending on company direction).
Skills
- Excellent negotiation and relationship-building skills.
- Leadership and team management capability.
- Good English communication skills (able to work directly with overseas partners is a plus).
- Proficient in MS Office; familiarity with management systems (ELSA/TMS is an advantage).

- Strategic thinking, resilient under sales pressure.
- Willing to travel when required (client/partner visits).
