Subsidiary of Rail Logistics Europe (SNCF Group) and one of the most important european actor in the multimodal transport field, NAVILAND CARGO is specialized in combined transport (mostly rail / road) of maritime containers and provide pure road transport solutions for its customers as well.
We are now actively looking for 2 Road Transport Planners m/f/d to join our dutch team and develop the activity within our pure road transport agency in Rotterdam.
SKILLS REQUIRED :
- 5 years experience in container road transport (transport company, freight forwarder, shipping company)
- Taking orders for container road transport: ensuring punctuality in order processing
- Ability to manage subcontractors: purchase/sale rates, assigning routes to subcontractors, monitoring service delivery, acting as the point of contact between subcontractors and clients, ensuring everything runs smoothly, participating in tenders
- Ability to optimize routes based on orders whilst maintaining contact with subcontractors
- Ability to manage clients: handling complaints and follow-ups
- Ability to manage a portfolio of daily transports involving multiple subcontractors
- Dutch and English are essential
- French is a major advantage
- Familiarity with port, depot and terminal websites (to collect release info, check empty releases, bookings, re-use of containers, depot changes, check vessel arrivals and yard opening times etc…)
- Experience in rail transport is an advantage, but not essential
JOB DESCRIPTION :
Our futur Road Transport Planners m/f/d will be responsible for managing the organization of road transport : carries out and keeps schedules.
They will manage the relationship with the drivers and the subcontracting carriers in order to organize the transport of containers, at the regional level (pre-post train routing) and national (100% road), by road.
They thus :
- Seek solutions to satisfy customer requests
- Charter routes to subcontractors, ensuring fairness between the subcontractors in its portfolio
- Organise routes/plannings, always ensuring that loaded trucks run as smoothly as possible
- Draw up schedules for HGV drivers
- Adapt routes and drivers’ schedules according to unforeseen circumstances
- Prepare and check feasibility and rates according to the type of transport and the customer
- Manage the entire customer/subcontractor relationship (from order taking to invoicing)
- Monitor and analyse profits and costs to adapt planning activity if necessary and to ensure that individual and collective objectives are met
- Develop the portfolio by seeking out new road subcontractors.
