Product Logistics Director is a senior leader responsible for ensuring that products move efficiently through the supply chain, from planning and sourcing to warehousing, fulfillment, transportation, and final delivery.

Role Purpose

This role sits at the intersection of product, operations, and logistics. The Product Logistics Director makes sure product availability, delivery speed, cost efficiency, and service levels are aligned with business goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supply chain and logistics strategy
  • Define logistics strategy for product movement, inventory flow, and distribution coverage.
  • Align logistics decisions with product launches, demand forecasts, and service targets.
  • End-to-end product flow
  • Oversee inbound and outbound logistics, warehousing, freight, last-mile delivery, and returns.
  • Ensure products are available in the right place, at the right time, and in the right quantity.
  • Cross-functional coordination
  • Work with product, procurement, operations, finance, and customer service teams to plan launches and manage demand changes.
  • Coordinate with vendors, carriers, 3PLs, and fulfillment partners to maintain smooth operations.
  • Inventory and service optimization
  • Balance inventory levels, carrying costs, and service performance.
  • Reduce stockouts, delays, damage, and unnecessary logistics expense.
  • Process and systems improvement
  • Improve logistics workflows, reporting, and systems used for planning and tracking product movement.
  • Implement standard operating procedures, automation, and performance dashboards.
  • Risk and issue management
  • Identify risks in supply, transportation, customs, capacity, or vendor performance.
  • Develop contingency plans for disruptions and urgent product shortages.
  • Team leadership
  • Lead logistics, supply chain, and operations teams.
  • Set goals, coach team members, and build a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Typical Profile

  • 15+ years of experience in logistics, supply chain, operations, or product operations.
  • Strong understanding of inventory planning, transportation, warehousing, and distribution.
  • Experience managing cross-functional projects and external logistics partners.
  • Strong analytical, commercial, and problem-solving skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field; advanced degree is a plus.
