Mazu Recruitment is partnering with an international shipping company in the search for an Operations Manager to join its Singapore office.
This is an excellent opportunity for a dry bulk operations professional to join a commercially focused team and take responsibility for the day-to-day operational management of owned geared and non-geared bulk carriers trading within the spot market.
Working closely with chartering, masters, agents, terminals and customers, the successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the efficient execution of voyages while supporting the commercial performance of the fleet.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operations of assigned vessels from fixture through to voyage completion
- Coordinate closely with masters, agents, terminals, charterers and cargo interests to ensure smooth voyage execution
- Monitor vessel schedules, cargo operations and voyage performance
- Ensure compliance with charter party terms and operational obligations
- Prepare voyage instructions and provide operational guidance to vessels
- Monitor port activities and proactively manage operational issues to minimise delays and disruptions
- Liaise closely with the chartering team regarding vessel schedules, positioning and voyage updates
- Review Statements of Facts, laytime calculations and demurrage-related matters
- Maintain accurate operational records and prepare internal reports as required
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in dry bulk vessel operations
- Experience operating geared and/or non-geared bulk carriers
- Strong understanding of voyage execution, charter party terms and dry bulk shipping operations
- Good knowledge of laytime calculations, demurrage and voyage performance monitoring
- Ability to manage multiple voyages and priorities simultaneously
- Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills
- Proactive, detail-oriented and comfortable working in a fast-paced commercial environment
- Should be able to work independently and take ownership of decisions taken.
