Role Description The Multi-Modal Freight Operator is a full-time, on-site role based in Cardiff, responsible for coordinating and managing shipments across multiple transport modes including road, air, and ocean. This role involves arranging bookings with carriers, preparing and verifying documentation, monitoring cargo movements, and ensuring timely delivery in line with customer requirements and service standards. The Multi-Modal Freight Operator will liaise daily with customers, carriers, and internal departments to provide updates, resolve issues, and optimize routing and cost efficiency. The role includes data entry and maintenance in logistics systems, handling customs-related information, and supporting billing and cost control activities. The individual will also contribute to continuous process improvement, adherence to compliance and safety regulations, and maintaining strong customer service standards.

Qualifications

  • Experience in freight forwarding or logistics operations, ideally in multimodal transport (road, air, ocean).
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple shipments and deadlines.
  • Proficiency with logistics, transport management, or ERP systems, and confident use of MS Office tools.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with customers, carriers, and colleagues.
  • Solid understanding of shipping documentation, incoterms, and basic customs and compliance requirements.
  • Customer-focused approach, problem-solving mindset, and attention to detail in data and documentation.
  • Ability to work on-site in Cardiff, collaborate within a team, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Relevant vocational training or education in logistics, supply chain, or a related field is beneficial; prior experience in an international logistics company is an advantage.
