About the Role
Our client is looking for a proactive and detail-oriented LTL Transportation Coordinator to manage all transportation-related activities for Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) shipments. This role is responsible for sourcing carriers, negotiating competitive freight rates, coordinating pickups, and ensuring shipments move efficiently from warehouse to destination.
The ideal candidate has experience in freight coordination, logistics, or 3PL operations and can confidently manage multiple shipments while maintaining strong relationships with carriers and brokers.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain a reliable network of LTL brokers and direct carriers.
- Source and compare multiple freight quotes based on pricing, service levels, and pickup availability.
- Negotiate competitive transportation rates and service terms with carriers and brokers.
- Select the most suitable transportation solution for each shipment.
- Schedule pickups and confirm pickup windows, carrier details, and shipment requirements.
- Coordinate with the warehouse team by providing accurate pickup schedules and transportation instructions.
- Track shipments from booking through pickup and resolve issues such as missed pickups, delays, rescheduling, or carrier-related concerns.
- Maintain accurate records of freight quotes, booked rates, carrier performance, shipment status, and transportation costs.
- Monitor carrier service quality and identify opportunities to improve transportation efficiency and reduce costs.
- Ensure all shipment documentation and transportation details are accurate and up to date.
Requirements
- Previous experience in LTL freight, transportation coordination, freight brokerage, dispatch, logistics, or 3PL operations.
- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to secure competitive freight rates.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple shipments simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills to coordinate effectively with carriers, brokers, and warehouse teams.
- High attention to detail to ensure shipment accuracy and timely pickups.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond quickly to transportation changes or unexpected issues.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and transportation or logistics management systems is an advantage.
