Scope and job purpose: To maintain the overall cleanliness of the building and adjacent grounds.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
The Night Shift Supervisor is responsible for directing and managing janitorial team of around 2-6 people working on the 2nd shift, Tuesday – Saturday.
The Janitor is responsible for the following, subject to building variations:
General
· Check lighting and replace burned out light bulbs, as needed.
· Complete work orders assigned by Engineer or Manager; all work orders to be completed within 24 hours.
· Report any unusual circumstances or vandalism to Engineer.
· Assist maintenance personal, as required.
· Complete additional janitorial duties as assigned by Manager, not specifically noted below.
Lobby and adjacent common areas
· Sweep and mop floors.
· Vacuum carpet and carpet runners.
· Clean all glass.
· Clean all window sills and inside of window glass.
· Dust and wipe Exit light, doorways, and wall hangings.
· Dust baseboard heaters and air vents, daily.
· Dust exposed sprinkler heads and pipes.
Elevators
Maintain cleanliness of elevator interiors as required, including:
· Vacuum carpets.
· Clean and polish walls.
· Clean ceiling, weekly.
Garbage Areas
· Sweep and mop floors.
· Clean garbage room; check and pull garage, daily.
· Take out full dumpsters and bring in empty ones.
Exterior Areas/Parking
· Sweep up all trash on the sidewalks, parking area, around the buildings and remove trash from around trees.
· Keep freight area clean and free of debris.
· Remove snow from sidewalks at all times, even a light dusting.
· Water flowers, as needed.
· Wash sidewalks, weekly.
· Check lighting, replace if required, or inform Engineer of problem.
Management and Leasing
· Vacuum and remove garbage, daily.
· Clean bathrooms and kitchen, weekly.
· Dust Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
This job position is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement between CMPS & SEIU Local 1 that adheres to the same agreement as the BOMA/Chicago – SEIU Local 1 JANITORS AGREEMENT. Therefore, the person hired for this position must either; be in current good standing with SEIU Local 1 or establish a fiscal relationship and responsibility with SEIU Local 1 immediately after accepting the position. Failure to do so may result in termination.
Pay: $23.50 – $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
