Overview
Join our dynamic team as an Ocean Import Freight Forwarder and become a vital part of our global logistics network! In this energetic role, you will coordinate and manage ocean freight shipments from overseas suppliers to our customers’ destinations. Your expertise in supply chain management, transportation planning, and customer relationship management will drive seamless import operations. You’ll work closely with carriers, vendors, and clients to ensure timely delivery, compliance with regulations, and optimal freight solutions. Duties
- Coordinate and execute ocean import shipments, including booking space with carriers and managing documentation such as bills of lading, customs declarations, and shipping instructions
- Liaise with carriers, NVOCCs (Non-Vessel Operating Common Carriers), 3PL providers, and customs authorities to ensure smooth cargo movement
- Track shipments throughout the transit process using transportation management systems (TMS) and EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) platforms for real-time updates
- Prepare and review contracts, pricing agreements, and freight quotes to optimize costs while maintaining service quality
- Ensure compliance with FDA regulations and other international trade laws during import processes
- Manage customer relationships by providing proactive updates, resolving issues promptly, and offering tailored freight solutions
- Utilize CRM software for lead generation, account management, data entry, dispatching, and maintaining detailed records of shipments and client interactions
Skills
- Strong knowledge of supply chain management principles and transportation management systems (TMS)
- Proven experience in logistics sales, freight forwarding, or transportation sales within an international context
- Excellent negotiation skills for contracts, pricing agreements, and carrier negotiations
- Familiarity with B2B sales processes and inside sales strategies in the logistics industry
- Proficiency in data entry tools such as AS400 systems and EDI platforms for seamless information exchange
- Ability to coordinate transportation planning efficiently while managing multiple shipments simultaneously
- Strong understanding of FDA regulations related to imported goods and compliance standards in global trade
- Exceptional communication skills to build lasting customer relationships and facilitate effective collaboration across teams
