28Freight dba TruckCourier is seeking experienced Independent Contractors (ICs) with straight trucks to join our expedited freight network. This is a great opportunity for owner-operators who want consistent, time-critical freight, competitive pay, and the flexibility of independent contractor status — with the added benefit of being home every night.
What You’ll Do
● Transport time-sensitive, expedited freight in a straight truck
● Provide on-demand service, responding to time-critical load offers with short notice
● Perform frequent airport pickups and deliveries, including cargo terminal and ramp-area access
● Operate primarily within a 100-mile radius of Boston Logan Airport (BOS)
● Deliver on tight windows, often same-day or next-day
● Run local/regional on-demand and routed work designed to get you home every night — no over-the-road or multi-day trips
● Communicate load status and ETAs regularly with dispatch
● Secure and handle freight properly to prevent damage
● Maintain required documentation (BOLs, delivery receipts, logs)
● Operate safely and in compliance with DOT/FMCSA regulations
Equipment Requirements
● 24”-26” ft Straight truck, 2019 or newer preferred
● Liftgate required
● Truck must pass DOT inspection and company safety review
● GPS/ELD-compatible (or willing to install company-approved tracking)
Driver Qualifications
● Valid Driver’s License
● Minimum 3+ years of verifiable commercial driving experience
● Minimum age 21
● Clean MVR and safety record
● No more than 1 moving violation in the past 3 years
● No DUI/reckless driving convictions in the past 7 years
● No more than 1 preventable accident in the past 3 years
● Ability to pass a criminal background check
● Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
● Ability to read/speak English sufficient to satisfy DOT requirements (per FMCSA 391.11)
TSA / TWIC & Airport Access
● Valid TSA/TWIC card preferred (or ability to obtain one). This opportunity requires regular access to secured airport cargo areas
● Must be able to pass airport/airline security vetting and background checks for ramp access
● Frequent airport pickups and deliveries are required
Insurance & Business Requirements
● Current DOT medical certificate (must maintain throughout contract)
● $500,000 Combined Single Limit (CSL) auto liability insurance required, at minimum, for vehicles 20,001–45,000 lbs GVW
● Proof of all required insurance
● Valid business registration/EIN (if operating as an LLC or corporation)
● Workers’ comp or occupational accident coverage (varies by state/requirement)
Availability & Performance
● Home every night — local/regional lanes, no long-haul away time
● Willingness to be on-call or available for short-notice, on-demand dispatch
● Minimum daily availability Monday-Friday. Weekends as needed
● Reliable and effective communication is a must for this opportunity
Physical Requirements
● Ability to lift/move freight if touch freight or liftgate work is involved
● Ability to use a hand truck/pallet jack, if needed

This is an independent owner-operator/carrier opportunity—not a company-driver employment position. Applicants without their own straight truck with liftgate and active authority will not be considered.
Pay: $2,000.00 – $4,000.00 per week
