Import Coordinator | Houston, TX | Salary $65,000 per year
This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented logistics professional with a strong background in import operations and international freight forwarding.
The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating import shipments from arrival through final delivery, while working closely with customers, overseas offices, carriers, customs brokers, and internal operations teams.

Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the full import shipment process from pre-alert through final delivery
- Manage and track ocean and/or air import shipments
- Review and process import documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading and arrival notices
- Coordinate with overseas agents, steamship lines, airlines, truckers, warehouses and customs brokers
- Monitor shipment status and provide timely updates to customers
- Arrange deliveries and coordinate with trucking providers and warehouses
- Assist with customs clearance and ensure all required documentation is completed accurately
- Enter and maintain shipment information within the company’s transportation/freight forwarding system
- Review freight charges, invoices and supporting documentation for accuracy
- Resolve shipment delays, documentation issues and other operational exceptions
- Communicate proactively with customers regarding shipment status and any changes
- Maintain accurate and organized shipment files
- Ensure all shipments are handled in accordance with company procedures and international trade requirements
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in international freight forwarding
- Previous experience handling import shipments
- Strong understanding of international freight forwarding processes and documentation
- Experience working with customers, carriers, overseas agents and customs brokers
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook and Excel
- Experience with CargoWise or another freight forwarding system is highly preferred
