Petrochemical Sea Freight Operations Specialist
As our operations in the Netherlands continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced P
Petrochemical Sea Freight Operations Specialist to strengthen our Ocean Freight team.
The successful candidate will manage end-to-end sea freight operations with a particular focus on petrochemical cargo, ensuring operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and outstanding customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end import and export sea freight operations for petrochemical shipments.
- Coordinate bookings with shipping lines, terminals, overseas agents, and customers.
- Handle operational processes for chemical and petrochemical cargo, including IMO and hazardous materials where applicable.
- Prepare and review Bills of Lading, Shipping Instructions, manifests, and other shipping documentation.
- Coordinate shipment execution in accordance with customer requirements and operational procedures.
- Maintain proactive communication with customers regarding shipment status and milestones.
- Ensure compliance with customs regulations, IMDG requirements, and international shipping standards.
- Coordinate with carriers, terminals, warehouses, customs brokers, and overseas partners to ensure seamless cargo movement.
- Monitor shipment profitability, support invoicing processes, and maintain accurate operational records.
- Generate operational reports and contribute to continuous process improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Environmental, and Quality Management standards.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Sea Freight Forwarding Operations.
- Proven experience handling petrochemical or chemical logistics shipments.
- Strong knowledge of FCL/LCL import and export processes.
- Experience with hazardous cargo (IMO/IMDG) documentation and operational procedures is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of ISO Tank operations is considered a strong advantage.
- Professional proficiency in Dutch and English is mandatory.
- Excellent communication and customer relationship management skills.
- Strong analytical mindset with excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within an international team.
- Residing within a reasonable commuting distance of Rotterdam is preferred.
