The Freight worker is responsible for receiving, stocking, organizing, and maintaining merchandise throughout the store. This position helps ensure products are stocked accurately and efficiently while maintaining clean, organized, and safe sales and backroom areas.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Unload and organize incoming freight and deliveries.
- Stock merchandise accurately and efficiently.
- Rotate products and check dates while stocking.
- Keep shelves faced, organized, clean, and properly stocked.
- Place overstock in designated backstock areas.
- Maintain clean and organized backroom and receiving areas.
- Break down cardboard and properly dispose of packaging materials.
- Identify damaged, expired, or improperly received merchandise and report issues to management.
- Assist with displays, endcaps, promotional items, and seasonal merchandise.
- Follow proper lifting, stocking, and equipment safety procedures.
- Assist customers in locating merchandise when needed.
- Maintain a professional and helpful attitude toward customers and coworkers.
- Complete assigned freight and stocking duties within expected timeframes.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- May regularly work around customer, equipment, varying temperatures in different coolers.
Qualifications
- Dependable and able to maintain regular attendance.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to follow directions and complete assigned tasks.
- Good organizational and time-management skills.
- Previous grocery, retail, stocking, or warehouse experience preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements
This position regularly requires standing, walking, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting throughout the shift. Employees must be able to safely lift and move merchandise and use appropriate equipment or team lifting when necessary.
