Role Description The Freight Broker is a full-time, on-site role located in Columbus, GA. This position is responsible for matching shippers with carriers, negotiating competitive rates, and ensuring profitable and timely freight movements. Day-to-day activities include managing load boards, dispatching trucks, tracking shipments, and resolving any service issues that arise during transit. The role involves building and maintaining strong relationships with customers and carriers, handling routine communication and documentation, and collaborating closely with the operations team to optimize lane coverage and equipment utilization.
Qualifications
- Strong Freight Brokerage and Brokerage skills, with experience sourcing carriers and negotiating rates.
- Customer Service and Account Management skills to build, maintain, and grow shipper and carrier relationships.
- Dispatching skills, including managing schedules, coordinating loads, and tracking trucks and deliveries.
- Knowledge of transportation regulations, freight markets, and basic logistics operations.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, with attention to detail and accurate documentation.
- Ability to work on-site in Columbus, GA, in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple tasks and priorities.
- Proficiency with load boards, TMS or dispatch systems, and common office software (e.g., email, spreadsheets).
- Previous experience in trucking, logistics, or transportation brokerage is preferred; high school diploma or equivalent required, associate or bachelor’s degree in business or a related field is a plus.
