About Bowmenn
Bowmenn is a technology-enabled logistics company that owns and operates its own fleet of trucks while also connecting shippers with vetted third-party truck owners to move freight efficiently across Nigeria.
We are looking for a highly responsible and hands-on Fleet Management Officer to manage the day-to-day operations, maintenance and drivers of Bowmenn-owned trucks, while also supporting the onboarding and management of third-party truck owners on our platform.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage Bowmenn-owned trucks and ensure maximum fleet availability and utilization.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance, repairs, servicing and inspections of trucks.
• Monitor truck condition and identify mechanical issues before they result in breakdowns.
• Maintain accurate records of servicing, repairs, spare parts and maintenance costs.
• Manage and supervise truck drivers, including attendance, conduct, performance and compliance with company policies.
• Monitor drivers and trucks while in transit and follow up on operational issues.
• Ensure drivers carry out daily and pre-trip vehicle inspections.
• Monitor fuel consumption and investigate abnormal fuel usage or suspected fuel theft.
• Coordinate breakdown recovery and emergency repairs when required.
• Ensure trucks have valid documentation and meet all regulatory and safety requirements.
• Recruit, verify and onboard third-party truck owners and their trucks onto the Bowmenn platform.
• Verify ownership documents, vehicle particulars, insurance and other required documentation of third-party trucks.
• Maintain an accurate database of Bowmenn trucks, drivers and third-party truck owners.
• Work closely with the Shippers team to ensure trucks are available and ready for cargo movement.
Requirements
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in fleet management, trucking, transport operations or a related position.
• Good knowledge of heavy-duty trucks, particularly tractor heads and semi-trailers.
• Practical understanding of truck maintenance and common mechanical faults.
• Experience managing commercial truck drivers.
• Good understanding of fleet documentation and regulatory requirements.
• Strong record-keeping and reporting skills.
• Ability to use Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets and fleet management systems.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Must be able to work under pressure and respond quickly to fleet emergencies.
• Must reside in Lagos or be willing to relocate to Lagos.
Preferred
Experience managing Shacman, HOWO, FAW or similar heavy-duty trucks will be an advantage.
Fluency in Hausa will be an advantage.
