About the Role
Rhode Sense is growing our Rochester operation and looking for driven, coachable people to join our carrier sales team — no freight or logistics experience required. We provide full paid training on the industry, our systems, and how to build a book of business. If you’re competitive, organized, and want a career with real earning upside, this is an entry point into freight brokerage with a clear growth path.
What You’ll Do
- Source and qualify carriers (trucking companies) to move freight for our shippers
- Negotiate rates with carriers to cover loads at the best possible margin
- Track shipments from pickup to delivery and troubleshoot issues in transit
- Build ongoing relationships with a growing roster of reliable carriers
- Maintain accurate records in our TMS (transportation management system)
- Work closely with our sales and operations teams to keep freight moving on time
What We’re Looking For
- No prior freight/logistics experience necessary — we’ll train you from day one
- Strong phone communication skills and comfort with high call volume
- Competitive mindset with a genuine drive to hit targets and grow income
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to juggle multiple priorities under time pressure
- Basic computer proficiency (comfortable learning new software quickly)
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree a plus but not required
- Reliable, coachable, and eager to build a long-term career in transportation
Training & Growth Path
New reps go through a structured onboarding covering industry fundamentals, negotiation tactics, our carrier network, and hands-on load coverage under the guidance of experienced brokers. As you build carrier relationships and load volume, your earning potential grows with you — top performers on our team move into senior carrier sales and account management roles.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary: $45,000/year, plus uncapped commission on loads booked
- On-target earnings in year one: $60,000–$70,000+, with no ceiling as your volume grows
