Account & Logistics Manager – Exposives Jobs in United States at Emerson Personnel Group Inc.
Our client located in Philadelphia works in defense logistics and shipping of explosive/hazardous materials for U.S. government, defense and commercial customers. They are seeking an Account and Logistics Manager. MILITARY VETERANS WITH HANDS ON EXPERIENCE ENCOURAGED TO APPLY. This role serves as the single point of contact and owns the full lifecycle of hazardous-material shipments starting with customer engagement and commercial booking through operational execution and regulatory compliance. Serving as both commercial lead and operational owner, this role drives profitable growth while maintaining strict adherence to all safety and regulatory requirements.
- Salary: Up to $125K with year-end bonus of 15-25%
- Schedule: Exempt position with some travel (20-25%) required in North America for visits including client, port, operations site, carrier, and vendors.

Responsibilities
Customer Management & Commercial Ownership
- Serve as the primary point of contact for key customers.
- Manage customer inquiries, pricing, and bookings end-to-end.
- Negotiate commercial terms and incoterms
- Build, maintain, and protect long-term customer relationships.
Sales & Business Development
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities.
- Expand existing customer accounts.
- Develop pricing strategies aligned with established margin targets.
- Maintain an accurate and current sales pipeline.
Shipment Planning & Execution
- Plan/execute domestic & international hazardous material and class 1 shipments
- Coordinate routing, scheduling and carriers
- Track shipments from origin through delivery.
- Proactively identify and resolve shipment issues and disruptions.
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, including 49CFR, IMDG Code, IATA DGR, and ATF requirements
- Interpret and apply applicable regulations.
- Review shipments for regulatory and operational compliance.
- Approve, hold, or reject shipments as appropriate.
- Exercise stop-shipment authority when safety or compliance requirements are not met.
Documentation & Trade Compliance
- Prepare and validate dangerous goods declarations (DGDs), Bills of lading, and AES/ACE filings
- Maintain complete, accurate, and audit-ready records.
Carrier & Vendor Management
- Select and manage carriers and vendors.
- Verify carrier and vendor qualifications, capabilities, and regulatory compliance
- Resolve capacity issues, routing challenges, and performance issues
Warehouse & Site Coordination
- Coordinate closely with warehouse and site operations.
- Ensure compliance with Net Explosive Quantity requirements (NEQ) and compatibility/segregation requirements
Risk Management
- Identify, assess, and mitigate risks (commercial, operational and compliance)
- Make sound, real-time decisions under pressure.
Process Improvement
- Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Drive efficiency, consistency, and continuous improvement across the commercial & operational workflow, customer-management, shipment & compliance process
Qualifications
- 7–10+ years of logistics experience spanning both commercial and operational functions.
- Hands-on hazardous-materials experience.
- Class 1 / explosives experience strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of international shipping, including Ocean Freight, Incoterms, and international shipping documentation
- Demonstrated ability to own both Commercial outcomes (revenue & margin) and operational and compliance execution
- Strong negotiation and relationship-management skills.
- Explosives-logistics experience.
- Familiarity with: ATF requirement including 27 CFR Part 555, ITAR/EAR
- Defense or U.S. government contracting experience, including FAR and DFARS
- Experience with: AES/ACE, Transportation Management Systems (TMS), and Customer Relationship Management Systems (CRM)
- Function-specific dangerous-goods training and/or certification. Prior certification is preferred, but training can be provided
- High degree of ownership and accountability.
- Intense curiosity and an always-learning mindset.
- Strong commercial judgment.
- Detail-oriented and precise, particularly with compliance-critical information and data.
- Calm and decisive under pressure.
