Warehouse Manager – Freight Forwarding Operations
Job Summary:
The Warehouse Manager is responsible for leading and optimizing CBX Global’s warehouse operations in Jacksonville, FL, ensuring seamless execution of freight forwarding activities such as container consolidations (LCL), Full Container Loads (FCL), cross-docking, and long-term storage.
This role requires a proactive leader with experience managing a team of 20-30 employees in a fast-paced warehouse environment. The ideal candidate will drive operational efficiency, KPI performance, safety compliance, and risk mitigation while fostering a collaborative, high-performing team culture.
CBX Global also handles medical devices and sensitive healthcare cargo, ensuring compliance with GDP (Good Distribution Practices) and industry regulations. Candidates with HAZMAT certification and experience in hazardous cargo handling will be strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations & Workforce Management:
Oversee daily inbound and outbound operations, ensuring accurate, timely, and efficient cargo handling.
Lead and supervise a team of 20-30 warehouse employees, managing shift schedules, workload distribution, and staffing needs.
Maintain strict inventory control and space utilization to optimize the handling of consolidations, cross-docking, and long-term storage.
Ensure the accuracy of the Warehouse Management System (WMS) and real-time data updates.
Organize pallet racks and floor space layouts to maximize efficiency and throughput.
Implement and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to minimize errors and enhance productivity.
KPI & Performance Monitoring:
Develop, implement, and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), including:
Operational efficiency and turnaround times
Order accuracy and inventory integrity
Reduction of errors, damages, and near-miss incidents
Productivity benchmarks for warehouse personnel
Analyze performance data and develop action plans for continuous improvement.
Safety, Compliance & Risk Management:
Ensure compliance with GDP (Good Distribution Practices) and other regulatory standards.
Lead warehouse safety programs, including near-miss reporting, hazard identification, and corrective actions.
Maintain compliance with OSHA, TSA, and other safety regulations.
Oversee warehouse security measures, including access control, perimeter safety, and cargo protection.
Develop and execute a Business Continuity Plan for hurricane season (June 1 – Nov 30) to ensure warehouse preparedness.
Conduct incident investigations and enforce preventive maintenance on warehouse equipment.
Leadership & Team Development:
Hire, train, and develop warehouse staff, ensuring alignment with company goals and operational needs.
Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Conduct regular performance evaluations, coaching sessions, and disciplinary actions when necessary.
To ensure clarity and alignment, organize team meetings, safety briefings, and operational updates.
Cross-functional Coordination:
Work closely with logistics, trucking, customs, and customer service teams to ensure seamless operations.
Serve as a key contact for vendors, carriers, and service providers supporting warehouse activities.
Support other CBX Global warehouse locations when needed.
Required Skills & Competencies:
Proven experience supervising 20-30 employees in a warehouse or freight forwarding environment.
Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills in a high-volume logistics setting.
Expertise in warehouse management, freight consolidation, cross-docking, and inventory control.
Proficiency in Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and operational reporting tools.
Preferably experience with Magaya, CargoWise1, and Bearware softwares.
Ability to develop and track KPI metrics for efficiency, accuracy, and cost control.
In-depth knowledge of security compliance standards.
Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and warehouse analytics tools.
Flexibility to travel as needed for operational support.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
Minimum 5 years of warehouse management experience, focusing on freight forwarding and logistics.
Proven track record of successfully managing 20-30 warehouse employees in a dynamic environment.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work in a warehouse and dock environment, including exposure to various weather conditions.
Capable of lifting, standing, and walking for extended periods as required for warehouse supervision.
