Job Summary
The Terminal Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the terminal, ensuring efficient and effective management of transportation, warehousing, and inventory processes. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills who can manage a team while optimizing terminal performance. The Terminal Manager will work closely with various departments to ensure that all operations align with company goals and industry standards.
Duties
Oversee the daily operations of the terminal, including transportation management, warehouse management, and inventory control.
Implement and maintain Transportation Management Systems (TMS) to enhance operational efficiency.
Manage inventory levels through effective category management and materials management practices.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies within the terminal environment.
Coordinate with logistics teams to optimize production planning and ensure timely delivery of goods.
Utilize mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot equipment issues and maintain operational readiness.
Supervise staff, providing training and development opportunities to enhance team performance.
Maintain accurate records of terminal activities, including shipping documents and inventory reports.
Experience
Proven experience in transportation management systems, warehouse management, and inventory management is essential.
Familiarity with category management principles and practices.
Mechanical knowledge is a plus for understanding equipment operations within the terminal.
Proficiency in using forklifts and other material handling equipment is advantageous.
Knowledge of MRP (Material Requirements Planning) systems is beneficial for effective production planning.
Strong leadership skills with a track record of managing teams in a fast-paced environment.
