Job Summary
Harvey Fertilizer and Gas Company is looking for a reliable and skilled Truck Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting freight safely and efficiently while adhering to all traffic laws and regulations. The Truck Driver will play a crucial role in ensuring timely deliveries and maintaining the integrity of the cargo. This position requires the ability to adapt to changes in the work environment, work with customers in a safe manner that maximizes departmental effectiveness, respond to management direction and complete tasks in a timely manner or notify the appropriate person with an alternate plan, able to demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness and is a team player with safety mindset. This position will be located in Calypso, NC.
Duties
Operate and drive assigned trucks to transport goods to designated locations.
Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure the vehicle is in safe operating condition.
Load and unload freight as necessary, ensuring proper handling of materials.
Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, rest periods, and cargo information.
Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations regarding transportation and safety.
Communicate effectively with dispatchers and other team members regarding delivery schedules and any issues that may arise.
Manage routes efficiently to ensure timely deliveries while minimizing fuel consumption.
Perform routine maintenance checks on the vehicle and report any mechanical issues.
Experience
Proven experience as a delivery driver or truck driver is preferred.
Familiarity with operating various types of trucks including tractor-trailers, tankers, roll-off trucks, and flatbeds.
Strong understanding of freight handling procedures and safety regulations.
Excellent driving record with no major violations or accidents.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications:
High school or equivalent
Operation of application equipment (John Deere and Raven Controllers) preferred
Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check
Ability to work independently
Ability to work extended hours to meet business demand
Pick up and deliver product to customers as needed
Ability to communicate with customers in a professional manner
Lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
