Job Overview
Join our dynamic logistics team as a Truck Dispatcher Assistant, where you will play a vital role in coordinating and supporting road transportation operations. This energetic position involves assisting with vehicle dispatching, managing communication between drivers and clients, and ensuring smooth supply chain workflows. You will utilize transportation management systems and GPS technology to optimize routes, monitor freight movement, and uphold DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations. Your proactive approach and organizational skills will help us deliver exceptional service while maintaining efficient fleet management.
Duties
- Support the dispatching process by coordinating vehicle assignments using transportation management systems and vehicle dispatch software
- Communicate effectively with drivers, clients, and internal teams via multi-line phone systems and phone call management tools
- Monitor GPS and GIS (Geographic Information Systems) data to track vehicle locations, optimize routes, and ensure timely deliveries
- Assist with data entry related to shipping & receiving, freight details, and delivery schedules to maintain accurate records
- Manage internal communication channels to relay instructions, updates, and operational changes promptly
- Ensure compliance with DOT regulations by verifying driver logs, hours of service, and safety standards
- Support logistics planning by analyzing transportation data to improve efficiency and reduce costs
Experience
- Previous experience in transportation planning, road transportation operations, or logistics support is preferred
- Familiarity with transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management or similar platforms
- Knowledge of fleet management practices and vehicle dispatching procedures
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask across multiple communication channels
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel) for documentation and reporting purposes
- Excellent communication skills with a professional phone etiquette for customer service and internal coordination
- Ability to analyze transportation data to identify opportunities for process improvements
