James Kemball is seeking an organised and proactive Transshipment Operations Coordinator to join our Felixstowe-based operation. This role is responsible for providing administrative support to the Transshipment Team, ensuring the smooth planning, coordination, and execution of transshipment activities.
Working closely with the Transshipment Yard Supervisor, you will help manage daily workloads, forecast future operational requirements, maintain accurate records, and ensure any exceptions or service issues are identified and resolved efficiently.
Whilst also working closely with the Commercial Lead to identify and support new business opportunities, customer growth initiatives, and service enhancements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative support to the Transshipment Team and wider operations department.
- Work closely with the Transshipment Yard Supervisor to coordinate daily workloads and operational priorities.
- Assist with forecasting future volumes and resource requirements based on customer demand and operational trends.
- Monitor and maintain accurate operational records and reporting.
- Process and manage customer requests, bookings, and related documentation.
- Track container movements and ensure all system updates are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Manage operational exceptions, including:
- Late collections
- Missed bookings
- Customer queries and complaints
- Documentation discrepancies
- Liaise with customers, hauliers, depot teams, and operational staff to ensure efficient service delivery.
- Assist in onboarding new customers and suppliers, ensuring a smooth transition into operational processes and systems.
- Act as a key point of contact for customers and suppliers, ensuring effective communication, issue resolution, and ongoing relationship development.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with customers, suppliers, hauliers, depot operators, and other key stakeholders to support service excellence and operational efficiency.
- Produce daily, weekly, and monthly reports as required.
- Investigate and resolve operational issues while escalating concerns where necessary.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying process efficiencies and service enhancements.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, customer requirements, and health and safety policies.
Skills & Experience:
Essential
- Previous experience in an administrative or operational support role.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Competent in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- Ability to prioritise tasks and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable
- Minimum 2 year of experience within the shipping, logistics, transport, haulage, port, or container industry.
- Experience working within a transshipment, container depot, or port environment.
- Knowledge of container movements, haulage operations, and supply chain processes.
- Experience using transport management, depot management, or logistics software systems.
