Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage databases detailing transport activities, finances, employee schedules, and personnel records.
Maintain updated records such as driver information, driver logs, and customer and sales complaints.
Provide leadership to build strong relationships with professional drivers.
Submit weekly/monthly fuel reports for tractor and trailer leasing as needed.
Schedule routes efficiently to consolidate capacity and provide effective service.
Coordinate with sales staff for special delivery requirements.
Mediate between sales, drivers, and customers to resolve delivery issues.
Address discrepancy reports from accounting immediately with the designated driver.
Issue and review daily driver vehicle inspection reports, ensuring proper storage for audits.
Provide vehicle inspection reports to the transportation manager, highlighting mechanical or safety issues, and address them with Ryder and team to prevent vehicle downtime.
Review and store driver’s daily log books for drivers traveling 150 miles or more from Hammond for audit purposes.
Assign routes to drivers, considering their input on delivery appointments and external requirements.
Manage all driver communications and delivery issues.
Plan truck routes prioritizing efficiency and geographical considerations.
Maintain daily communication with warehouse managers and drivers.
Be available 100% of the time via phone.
Adhere to daily schedules as directed by the warehouse manager.
Qualifications and Requirements:
At least 2 years of experience in transportation, logistics, or a similar field.
Experience in operational transportation preferred.
Active Class A License.
Knowledge of DOT and OSHA regulations is strongly desired.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
Exceptional leadership and directing abilities.
Strong interpersonal and motivational skills.
Understanding of safety and legal procedures for handling goods.
Self-motivated leader.
