Job Description

Title: Transportation Router

Reports to: Transportation Coordinator

Overview: Responsible for the development and maintenance of bus routes for all programs/schools supporting the State Department of Education’s Sheff Initiative. Such programs include the Open Choice Program, CREC Magnet Schools, and Hartford Public Schools’ Magnet Schools.

Responsibilities include:

Develop and manage student transportation database.

Develop routing schedules for all student transportation.

Create routing efficiencies by using tiering, ride sharing, transfers, etc.

Review requests for route changes and determine impact/need of request.

Maintain all records of requests and changes. Track requests so data can be analyzed.

Communicate route changes to transportation staff and bus companies.

Develop and maintain access to the routes using various means including CREC’s website.

Contribute to the improvement of the systems.

Attend meetings and prepare reports as needed.

Serve as an active member of the transportation services team.

Be thoroughly familiar with all Transfinder capabilities and participate in professional development offered by Transfinder.

Customer service.

Experience:

Considerable experience in routing student transportation.

Experience with Transfinder, preferred.

Extensive knowledge of Hartford and surrounding towns.
