POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Transportation Operations Analyst (Finance) with an accounting background to support our Transportation and Operational financial processes. This role is critical in ensuring accurate reporting, cost analysis, and reconciliation of freight expenses and key operational costs while collaborating with operations teams to drive efficiency.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage month-end close reporting and accruals related to freight expenses.
Manage month-end close reporting and accruals related to operational expenses and transactions.
Reconcile freight-related accounts and review carrier aging statements.
Communicate with carriers to resolve disputes, claims, and outstanding balances.
Conduct freight bill audits and serve as the primary contact for the Freight Auditor.
Lead and support implementation projects related to freight
Coordinate and review freight-related activities with teams in Asia.
Analyze and manage small parcel shipping costs (UPS, FedEx, DHL, etc.).
Support annual contract reviews with carriers, including LTL contract reviews and FAK rate analysis.
Develop and maintain various operations KPI reports, including:
On-time service performance
Freight cost per unit
Freight returns analysis
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
Strong proficiency in accounting principles related to freight and logistics.
Expertise in Excel formulas, VLOOKUP, and Pivot Tables.
Experience with SQL and Power BI for data analysis and reporting.
Previous experience working with operations teams in a financial capacity.
3-5 years of experience in financial analysis, accounting, or logistics finance.
Proven ability to lead projects related to freight operations and financial reporting.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with enterprise content management (ECM) systems like Docstar.
Knowledge of freight auditing processes and industry best practices.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally.
NOTE: This position is NOT remote. Candidate must be able to commute to the Lockbourne, Ohio or Memphis, TN Distribution center.
