The Transportation Manager oversees all aspects of inbound and outbound transportation, ensuring timely, safe, and cost-effective delivery of food products and supplies. This role is responsible for managing delivery routes, supervising drivers, maintaining vehicle compliance, and collaborating with other departments to support seamless kitchen and customer operations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Transportation Operations

Plan and optimize daily delivery and pickup routes for maximum efficiency and fuel economy.

Oversee loading/unloading procedures to ensure food safety and proper handling.

Coordinate with kitchen and warehouse teams to align transportation with production schedules.

2. Fleet & Vehicle Management

Manage the maintenance, licensing, and inspection schedules of all delivery vehicles.

Ensure all vehicles meet local transportation and food delivery regulations.

Monitor vehicle usage, fuel consumption, and mileage logs.

3. Team Leadership

Recruit, train, and manage delivery drivers and support staff.

Conduct regular safety briefings and enforce company policies.

Monitor driver performance and implement improvement plans as needed.

4. Compliance & Safety

Ensure compliance with local health regulations related to food transport.

Implement safety protocols and incident response procedures.

Maintain documentation for audits, inspections, and insurance.

5. Cost Control & Reporting

Manage transportation budgets, reduce operating costs, and track KPIs.

Prepare regular reports on delivery metrics, delays, and operational issues.

Identify and execute improvements to increase efficiency and reduce waste.

6. Communication & Coordination

Serve as the primary point of contact between transportation and operations teams.

Resolve delivery issues, customer complaints, and route disruptions promptly.

Collaborate with vendors, third-party logistics providers, and internal departments.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field (preferred).

3–10 years of experience in transportation/logistics, preferably in food service or perishable goods.

Strong knowledge of fleet operations, route optimization, and regulatory compliance.

Proficiency in logistics management.

Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.

Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
