GENERAL PURPOSE: Under the general direction of the Administrator, performs transporter duties as required. Train staff to carry out duties consistent with Facility/Department needs and guidelines. Supervises transport staff, monitor and controls calls. Manage transport department in accordance with facility policies, procedures and standards operating practices, verbal directives, Federal/State/Local laws and facility guidelines. Maintain communication with department director. Complete administrative duties including but not limited to payroll, scheduling, hiring, discipline, standard paperwork, and any other data that may assist in daily operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: In addition to performing Essential Functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of supportive functions based upon the requirements of the organization

Transports residents to and from appointments as required.

Ensure implementation of day-to-day activities of transportation.

Supervisor workloads, schedule, tasks and other related functions.

Maintain and manage all databases relating to transportation activities.

Ensure compliance of safety standards in transportation functions.

Ensure maintenance of vehicles in good running condition.

Handle loading and unloading operations.

Initiate cost efficiency measures in transportation operations.

Implement environmental laws, procedures, and processes.

Build internal and external customer relationships.

Manage, supervisor and monitor fleet operations.

Ensure that all medical runs are scheduled and that the resident arrives at their appointments on time.

Ensure that all preventative maintenance and serving is performed on all facility vehicles.

Ensure that transport staff perform routine safety checks on all vehicles to include operable brake lights, turn signals, tire pressure, first aid kit and emergency road kit.

Checks the condition of all operating parts of the vehicle, to include: tires, lights, brakes, windshield wipers, etc.; arranges for repairs as needed.

Maintains accurate documentation related to mileage, consumption of gas, oil and other service related facility vehicles.

Prepares vehicle reports as required.

Conducts in-services & training as required to the transport staff.

Attend CPR Training maintains all required license and certifications as required.

Ensuring that all documentation related to the job is completed in accordance with facility policy.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements

Experience driving in a commercial capacity (CDL) is preferred; a valid Arizona driver’s license with a minimum of two years’ clean driving record is required. A minimum of 2 years management experience; preferably in Long Term Care setting. Applicant must pass a drug and alcohol test.
