About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Transport Planner to join our team in Dublin 12. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with strong knowledge of transport operations across Ireland, the UK, and the EU who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same.
As a Transport Planner working within a 4PL environment, you will play a key role in coordinating transport solutions, managing haulier relationships, and ensuring customer deliveries are planned and executed efficiently.
You will be responsible for managing transport activity from planning through to delivery, while responding quickly to operational challenges and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, service levels, and customer satisfaction.
What You’ll Do
- Plan and coordinate daily transport operations within a 4PL environment.
- Develop efficient transport plans across Ireland, the UK, and the EU.
- Allocate and coordinate hauliers to meet delivery requirements and service expectations.
- Monitor live transport operations and proactively respond to delays, disruptions, and changing requirements.
- Adjust transport plans quickly to minimise delays and maintain high service levels.
- Liaise with hauliers, customs teams, customers, warehouses, and internal departments.
- Ensure accurate and timely communication of transport information and delivery updates.
- Manage multiple transport requirements and priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Identify and resolve transport issues efficiently, keeping customers and stakeholders informed.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve transport efficiency, cost, and service performance.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with hauliers and other transport partners.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone who is organised, commercially aware, and confident managing transport operations in a demanding environment.
You should have:
- Strong practical knowledge of transport planning across Ireland, the UK, and the EU.
- Experience in transportation, logistics, or operations management.
- Experience coordinating hauliers, schedules, and day-to-day transport activities.
- Previous experience working in a 4PL, 3PL, freight forwarding, or transport planning environment is highly desirable.
- A good understanding of European transport operations and customs requirements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with hauliers, customers, colleagues, customs teams, and external partners.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- The ability to remain calm and make effective decisions when dealing with live operational issues.
- Good IT skills and confidence working with transport management and planning systems.
- The ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment.
