Description of Responsibilities
Coordinate with Operations, Sales, and freight vendors to effectively ship orders and maintain OTD (on-time-delivery).
Maintain a clean and orderly shipping office while building a team environment.
Negotiates rates with outside carriers-Brokers, builds new carriers contacts with contract carriers and ensures their equipment meets DOT safety standards.
Assist in tagging material for outbound shipment.
Allocate and deduct inventory (to include quality inspection of shop ticket paperwork).
Create shipping documents, distribute them to drivers, and maintain traceability of the documents.
Adhere to and enforce all company policies and procedures found in the Employee Handbook
Assist your manager with any other projects they may assign to you
Required Skills and Experience
Excellent leadership qualities (2+ years leadership role experience)
Experience in the movement of freight (2+ years preferred)
Excellent verbal and communication skills
Previous experience with negotiating freight rates
Exceptional organizational skills
