JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Shop Manager, the shop mechanic ensures the safe and efficient operation of a variety of small and large equipment and vehicles. The mechanic helps maintain both gas and diesel equipment by completing repairs, inspections, and preventative maintenance; correcting vehicle deficiencies; making adjustments and alignments; and keeping accurate records.
SALARY
$34-$39/hr
RESPONSIBILITIES
Determines vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identifying worn and damaged parts
Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules; installing component and part upgrades; controlling corrosion; completing winterization procedures
Performs routine fleet maintenance including changing oil, checking batteries, lubricating equipment and parts, and adjusting and aligning wheels
Corrects vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems
QUALIFICATIONS
5+ years of engine diagnosis, maintenance and repair
Diesel engine experience is ideal
Ability to speak Spanish highly desired
Must have current drivers license with a good driving record
High school or GED
