We are pleased to announce a job opportunity for a Shipping Operations Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing international shipping operations and coordinating with clients, the sales team, and agents, while following up on sea and air freight activities and related services.
Key responsibilities include receiving pricing requests, preparing quotations, following up on client approvals, executing bookings, and coordinating with shipping lines or international agents depending on the type of shipment. The role also includes handling inbound and outbound shipments, preparing shipping requirements such as shipping declarations, VGM, and shipping instructions, reviewing draft bills of lading, and coordinating with customs brokers until the full operational and financial shipment file is completed.
Key responsibilities
Receive pricing requests and record shipment details, including request date, client name, port of loading, final destination, quotation details, and client feedback.
Prepare quotations for direct clients, the sales team, and international agents, while reviewing the best available options before final price approval.
Execute sea or air freight bookings and coordinate loading arrangements according to client requirements and shipment type.
Follow up on export shipments from booking until sailing, including coordination with transporters, VGM submission, shipping instruction preparation, and bill of lading review.
Follow up on import shipments in coordination with shipping lines or origin agents, and review shipping documents until arrival and completion of required procedures.
Review invoices and operational documents and submit daily reports on the status of requests and shipments to the direct manager.
Qualifications
Practical experience in international freight operations, preferably with knowledge of both import and export procedures.
Good knowledge of dealing with shipping lines, international agents, and customs brokers.
Strong attention to detail, quick response skills, and the ability to solve daily operational issues efficiently.
