Shipping Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the efficient and cost-effective management of vessel operations, berthing, and container equipment within the company’s global shipping network.
Key Responsibilities
Vessel & Berthing Operations:
Coordinate vessel scheduling and berthing with port authorities and terminal operators.
Monitor and optimize berth utilization to reduce vessel turnaround time.
Manage stowage planning and cargo operations to ensure efficient loading/unloading.
Container Equipment Management:
Oversee the allocation and maintenance of container handling equipment
Ensure proper container tracking, inventory control, and yard management.
Optimize container repositioning to balance demand across different regions.
Operational Efficiency & Cost Control:
Implement strategies to improve vessel productivity and minimize port stay durations.
Monitor fuel consumption, port charges, and operational costs to improve profitability.
Utilize digital tools and data analytics to enhance decision-making and process optimization.
Compliance & Safety:
Ensure all operations comply with international shipping regulations
Adhere to environmental policies, including emissions control and waste management.
Implement safety measures for cargo handling and vessel operations.
Stakeholder Management:
Liaise with port authorities, terminal operators, and customs officials to streamline operations.
Collaborate with logistics, sales, and customer service teams to ensure smooth cargo flow.
Negotiate service agreements with suppliers, equipment providers, and third-party logistics firms.
Key Skills Required
