Description
The Shipping & Receiving Manager will direct, manage, and coordinate the warehouse, transportation and customer service activities. Lead and direct strategic planning for Shipping & Receiving, customer service and cost effectively transport solutions. Responsible for executing their functions: safely; considering quality and food safety always; and doing so in a timely and cost-efficient manner.
The Essential Functions Include But Are Not Limited To.
Responsible for overseeing the inventory management process, defining departmental strategies for appropriate inventory levels
Develop methods and procedures for scheduling of raw materials from suppliers to support manufacturing
Maintain receiving, warehouse and distribution operations
Strategically plan and manage Shipping & Receiving, warehouse, transportation and customer services.
Direct, optimize and coordinate full order cycle
Keep track of quality, quantity, stock levels, delivery times, transport costs and efficiency
Oversee an accurate inventory of warehouse materials
Ensure materials are delivered to sites in a timely manner as per clients’ criteria
Assess and recommend ideal shipping methods, routing or carriers to meet necessary parameters, specifications and costs
Negotiate rates with carriers and oversee schedule pick-ups
Oversee recruitment and training of warehouse personnel
Safely performing their job duties
Motivate, organize and encourage teamwork within the workforce to ensure set productivity targets are met
Resolve any arising problems or complaints
Responsible for Quality and Food Safety
Optimize forklift expenses
Communicating with all levels in a timely manner
Study and standardize procedures to improve efficiency of workers and maintain good housekeeping (5S)
Maintain metrics and analyze data to assess performance and implement improvements
Developing, review, and updating of the logistics standard work
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
5+ years’ field logistics experience/transportation field experience a plus
Demonstrated understanding of manufacturing industry
Able to manage time effectively
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills
Proficient in MS Office and inventory management software
Experience in shipping and receiving and customer service levels (required)
Bilingual (preferred)
Must be a good problem solver; good listener; and hands on
Able to focus on detail and identify opportunity
Able to organize themselves and department work
Self-motivated
Work requires normal manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination
Corrected hearing and vision to normal acceptable range
A significant amount of time will be spent in a production environment
Production area is not climate controlled and may experience extreme temperatures
This position requires the ability to climb stairs and ladders
Driving of cars, trucks, forklifts or other equipment may be needed
Working at heights, climbing ladders and stairs required Ear plugs, hard hat, gloves and high temperature protective gear required
Use of fall PPE protection as required
This position requires approximately 8-10 hours per day standing and/or walking.
