Role: Receiving & Shipping Specialist
Description/ Job Summary
The Receiving & Shipping Specialist reports to the Manager of Logistics & Procurement. This position will be on first shift. It will have a diversified workload including daily receiving activities, preparation of courier items and customer deliverables, process definition and/or improvement activities and projects, as well as assisting project management, purchasing, shipping, quality, and operations. Qualified candidates for this position must be flexible, illustrate initiative and responsibility, and be reliable and friendly. A high-quality productivity level within a fast-paced environment is necessary, and the ideal candidate focuses on completing their work effectively, efficiently, and in a timely manner.
Responsibilities
- Ability to lift bulky items, which can weigh up to 50 pounds
- Understand and follow written procedures and policies
- Coordinate high priority shipping and receiving activities
- Responsible for preparing “kits” of materials as specified
- Coordinates inventory requirements and processing with procurement, project management, and operations
- Perform ERP system transactions on goods receipt on all equipment purchase orders
- Receives inbound courier letters, parcels, freight, and delivers them to the designated recipient or department
- Assist in root cause investigations when quality issues arise
- Maintain receiving and shipping information and files, including working copies of certificates of analysis and bills of lading for hazardous material shipments
- Determine the most efficient bundling method (palletizing or individual packages)
- Uncrate, photograph, and verify condition of equipment when required
- Coordinate staging and deliveries of equipment with facility management
- Identifies and resolves shipping/receiving discrepancies
- Process orders for shipment and produce shipping documents (packing lists, material transfer forms, safety data sheets and permits. customs declaration forms)
- Collect appropriate documents for shipments, data sheets, certificates of conformance, RoHS, and other customer requirements
- Evaluate and process transport claims (inbound/outbound)
- Ability to read and understand bills of lading and customer order sheets
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in a receiving & shipping and/or inventory related job function (experience in manufacturing environment, is strongly desired)
- Forklift and HAZMAT certification desirable
- Capable of resolving complex delivery problems inclusive of freight claims and coordinate the return of damaged or incorrectly received goods
- Maintains a professional attitude and appearance providing excellent customer service at all times, to include maintaining a good work ethic and assisting others when needed
- Strong organizational abilities, including the ability to continually prioritize work to meet changing work conditions and customer requirements
- Strong knowledge base of inventory flow, Kanban, supermarkets and inventory control methods, and key driver of cycle count process
- Must understand inventory management principles and practices (cycle count, Kanban)
