Job Summary

The Roadside Service Driver is responsible for providing prompt, safe, and professional roadside assistance to motorists experiencing vehicle issues. This role involves responding to service calls, assessing situations, and performing light vehicle services to help customers get back on the road quickly while delivering excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to dispatched roadside assistance calls in a timely and professional manner
  • Perform roadside services including, but not limited to:
    • Jump starts
    • Tire changes
    • Lockout services
    • Fuel delivery
    • Minor mechanical assistance
  • Safely operate a roadside service vehicle and maintain required equipment
  • Accurately assess vehicle conditions and determine appropriate service solutions
  • Communicate clearly with dispatch and customers regarding service status
  • Follow all safety procedures, traffic laws, and company policies
  • Complete service documentation, reports, and digital records accurately
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and service-ready vehicle
  • Represent the company professionally at all times

Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to pass background checks and drug screening
  • Previous roadside assistance, towing, automotive, or mechanical experience preferred (training may be provided)
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field
  • Basic mechanical knowledge and problem‑solving skills

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, stand, and work in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to work outdoors, on roadways, and in traffic environments
  • Lifting 40–75 lbs. (tires, jacks, batteries, tools)
  • Moving equipment in and out of the service vehicle
  • Bending, kneeling, crouching, and squatting
  • Working in tight or awkward spaces (e.g., under a vehicle)
  • Standing for long periods
  • Entering/exiting a service truck repeatedly

Schedule & Availability

  • Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, holidays, and on‑call shifts as required
  • Overtime may be required based on call volume
  • Outdoor, roadside, and traffic‑adjacent environments
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions and emergency situations

Preferred Skills (Not Required)

  • Experience with GPS and dispatch systems
  • Knowledge of vehicle safety and roadside protocols
  • Bilingual abilities a plus
