Senior Transportation Manager

Responsibilities

Ensure that products and services reach customers accurately and on schedule.

Oversee the smooth operation and reliability of the transportation fleet.

Enforce full compliance with DOT regulations and manage all associated reporting.

Lead and supervise the entire transportation team, including routing, dispatch, and cross-dock functions.

Develop and maintain strong relationships with key transportation vendors.

Establish and implement comprehensive maintenance programs for vehicles and equipment to maximize uptime and reduce downtime.

Strategically plan and implement initiatives to boost transportation efficiency and effectiveness.

Uphold and enforce company policies and procedures within the transportation department.

Coordinate and administer driver road tests, random drug screenings, and other compliance-related activities.

Provide continuous training, professional development, and performance evaluations for drivers and transportation staff.

Conduct thorough investigations into transportation-related accidents to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.

Monitor and report key safety metrics and trends to identify areas for improvement.

Perform regular safety audits, including driver ride-alongs and vehicle inspections.

Facilitate effective team meetings to encourage open communication and collaboration.

Address employee disciplinary matters, including performance reviews and terminations as necessary.

Qualifications

Minimum of 7 years’ experience in transportation management, logistics, and distribution.

Fluency in both English and Spanish to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.

A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is required.

Comprehensive knowledge of all key business functions within the transportation industry.

Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, coupled with strong interpersonal abilities.

Exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to completing tasks reliably.

Experience with project management methodologies and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite project management tools.

Demonstrated expertise in GPS tracking systems and other relevant transportation technologies.

Thorough understanding of applicable DOT regulations, including interstate laws, driver hour regulations, and IFTA requirements.
