We are seeking an experienced Senior Logistics Officer to join our team at Servochem LLC.
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of import and export
documentation and coordination, as well as managing & coordination of all domestic freight
requirements. This role demands a strategic thinker with strong organizational skills, adept in
navigating the complexities of international and domestic logistics, especially within the
chemical trading industry.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Import and Export Coordination:
Carrier Selection and Negotiation and cost tracking.
Prepare and manage all import and export documentation, ensuring compliance with both UAE and international regulations.
Coordinate with suppliers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers to facilitate smooth import and export processes.
Track shipments and resolve any issues that arise during transit.
Ensure all relevant documentation such as BOL, customs documents etc., from vendors is collated and all correct prior to issuance to the Finance department for further payment process.
2. Domestic Freight Management:
Carrier Selection and Negotiation and cost tracking.
Oversee domestic inward and outward freight movements.
Coordinate with transportation providers to ensure timely delivery and pick-up of goods.
Maintain accurate records of all freight transactions.
Ensure all relevant documentation from freight vendors is collated and all correct prior to
issuance to the Finance department for further payment process.
3. Scheduling and planning :
Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders regarding schedule and planning of all incoming and outgoing freight to avoid bottlenecks and facility overloads.
Prepare a daily and weekly schedule in coordination with sales and warehouse operations for all incoming and outgoing freight.
Monitoring of schedule and reporting on daily results and compliance to schedule including corrective actions for any issues that have arisen.
4. Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure adherence to all relevant local, national, and international laws and regulations concerning the transportation of chemicals.
Keep up to date with changes in regulations and adapt processes as necessary.
5. Vendor and Stakeholder Relationships:
Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, customers, and third-party logistics providers.
Negotiate contracts and rates with vendors to achieve cost savings.
6. Team Leadership:
Supervise and mentor junior logistics staff.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the logistics team.
7. Risk Management:
Identifying and Mitigating Risks
Contingency Planning
8. Data Analysis and Reporting:
Analyze logistics data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
Prepare regular reports on logistics performance and present findings to senior management.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
At least 4-7 years of experience in logistics, preferably within the chemical trading industry.
Strong knowledge of import and export regulations and documentation.
Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in logistics management software and MS Office Suite.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
