Job Summary
We are seeking an analytical, proactive, and highly skilled Senior International Buyer with a sharp focus on global markets to join our procurement team. In this role, you will be responsible for sourcing raw materials and finished goods, negotiating favorable terms with overseas factories, and managing the end-to-end global supply chain process.
The ideal candidate possesses sharp business acumen, a deep understanding of international shipping and customs, and experience managing vendor relationships across different time zones.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Sourcing & Risk Mitigation: Identify, evaluate, and onboard reliable manufacturers across global markers. Conduct regular supplier risk assessments and proactively develop secondary sourcing strategies to ensure supply chain continuity and prevent single-point-of-failure risks.
- Advanced Negotiation & Contracts: Negotiate complex pricing structures, favorable payment terms, minimum order quantities (MOQs), long-term contracts, and master service agreements with overseas factories to maximize profitability.
- Supply Chain & Logistics Management: Oversee production schedules and manage the logistics of importing goods. Coordinate heavily with freight forwarders and customs brokers to handle ocean and air freight while optimizing transit times and shipping costs.
- Supplier Performance & Auditing: Develop and track vendor KPIs (on-time delivery, quality defect rates, cost variance). Address performance issues directly with overseas factory management and lead corrective action plans.
- Inventory Control & Forecasting: Collaborate with internal sales and inventory teams to accurately forecast demand, maintain optimal stock levels, and prevent stockouts on key product lines.
- Market Intelligence & Cost Modeling: Stay ahead of raw material fluctuations (such as copper or plastics), ocean freight rate spikes, and international trade regulations. Build “should-cost” models to ensure competitive market pricing.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Mentor or guide junior purchasing staff. Work closely with engineering and product management to source components for new product introductions (NPI).
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: 5–8+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or global sourcing, with a heavy focus on managing overseas manufacturing partners.
- Industry Knowledge: Previous experience in the electronics, cabling, or telecom infrastructure industry is highly preferred.
- International Logistics Knowledge: Expert understanding of Incoterms, customs clearance, duty rates, and managing global ocean and air freight.
- Negotiation Skills: Proven track record of high-stakes factory negotiations and large-scale cost-reduction initiatives.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong proficiency in Excel and experience utilizing ERP/MRP software for inventory planning.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to bridge cultural and language barriers effectively over email and messaging apps.
