Senior Accountant Jobs in Fort Worth, TX at Industrial Power LLC

Job Posting: Senior Accountant

Build More Than the Books. Build Your Accounting Career.

Industrial Power Truck & Equipment is an established commercial truck dealership organization serving customers across the Dallas-Fort Worth market. Our business spans truck sales, parts, service, and related operations, creating an accounting environment where finance is closely connected to the operating business. We value accuracy, accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and people who take ownership of their work.

We are looking for a strong, hands-on Senior Accountant who wants more than a narrowly defined accounting role. This is an opportunity to work directly with our Controller, develop a deep understanding of a multi-location commercial truck dealership business, and take meaningful ownership across the accounting function.

You will work across general ledger accounting, month-end close, financial reporting, cash and bank reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, truck and equipment inventory accounting, and internal controls. Just as importantly, you will be expected to understand why the numbers look the way they do, investigate issues to their root cause, improve processes, and help us build an even stronger accounting organization as the company grows.

For the right person, this role offers significant opportunity to expand responsibilities, gain exposure to business operations and leadership, and grow into a larger accounting leadership role over time.

What You Will Own and Support

  • Prepare and post journal entries and maintain accurate general ledger accounts.
  • Perform balance sheet, general ledger, bank, and cash reconciliations and resolve reconciling items promptly.
  • Take an active role in month-end and year-end close, including supporting schedules, account analysis, and financial reporting.
  • Research discrepancies and unusual transactions, identify root causes, and recommend appropriate corrections.
  • Support and help strengthen accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoice, payment, credit, and account review.
  • Maintain and reconcile accounting records for new and used truck and equipment inventory.
  • Review accounting activity related to truck and equipment purchases, sales, transfers, freight, modifications, accessories, and other inventory costs.
  • Assist with floor plan or inventory financing reconciliations where applicable.
  • Support audits, tax-related requests, financial reporting, special projects, and other accounting initiatives.
  • Partner with Sales, Parts, Service, Operations, and dealership leadership to resolve accounting issues and improve processes.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen accounting procedures, documentation, internal controls, and operating discipline.
  • As capability is demonstrated, assume increasing ownership for recurring accounting processes and portions of the close.

You May Be a Great Fit If You…

  • Know your way around a balance sheet and recognize when something does not make sense.
  • Understand how transactions flow through the general ledger and ultimately affect financial statements.
  • Can take ownership of an account, process, or problem rather than waiting for someone to tell you every next step.
  • Enjoy digging into discrepancies and finding the real cause – not simply making the numbers reconcile.
  • Can manage meaningful portions of a month-end close with limited supervision.
  • Are highly accurate and organized, but also able to see the bigger business picture.
  • Communicate effectively with operational leaders and employees outside of accounting.
  • Look for ways to strengthen controls, improve processes, and make the accounting function better.
  • Want more responsibility and are looking for an organization where strong performance can create additional opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Four or more years of progressive accounting experience preferred; exceptional candidates with equivalent capability will be considered.
  • Strong general ledger, balance sheet reconciliation, and month-end close experience.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles, financial statements, and internal controls.
  • Experience in a truck dealership, automotive dealership, heavy equipment dealership, distribution, manufacturing, transportation, rental, or another inventory-intensive business is strongly preferred.
  • Inventory accounting experience, particularly involving high-value assets or equipment, is a strong plus.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel capability, including formulas, reconciliations, schedules, and data analysis.
  • Experience with a dealership management system (DMS), ERP, or other accounting system preferred.
  • Ability to handle confidential financial and business information appropriately.
