Role Description The Sea Freight Operator is a full-time, on-site role based in the London Area, United Kingdom. This role is responsible for coordinating and managing sea freight operations, including booking shipments, preparing documentation, and monitoring cargo movements from origin to destination. The Sea Freight Operator will liaise with carriers, shipping lines, and customers to ensure schedules are met, costs are controlled, and all regulatory and customs requirements are satisfied. Daily tasks include handling customer inquiries, tracking shipments, resolving operational issues, and updating internal systems to maintain accurate and timely records. The role works closely with colleagues across operations and supply chain to support efficient, service-focused delivery for clients.
Qualifications
- Strong communication and customer service skills to manage client relationships and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience in freight and sea cargo operations, including booking, documentation, and shipment tracking.
- Knowledge of operations management and supply chain management principles, preferably within an international logistics environment.
- Ability to work accurately under time pressure, with strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with logistics and shipment management software and standard office applications.
- Relevant experience in sea freight, shipping, or logistics; prior work in a freight forwarder or carrier environment is an advantage.
- Vocational training or a degree in logistics, supply chain, business, or a related field is beneficial.
- Understanding of customs procedures, Incoterms, and international trade regulations is a plus.
