Responsibilities
1. Business Development
– Identify, research, and approach potential customers, including importers, exporters, and manufacturers.
– Develop and maintain a healthy sales pipeline and convert prospects into active customers.
– Promote and sell logistics services including ocean/air freight, customs clearance, import-export services, trucking, and warehousing.
– Negotiate freight rates and service terms while maintaining target gross profit margins.
– Achieve assigned targets for revenue, gross profit (GP), and new customeracquisition.
– Monitor market trends, competitors, and freight rate fluctuations.
2. Customer Management
– Build and maintain strong relationships with existing customers to ensure satisfaction and long-term retention.
– Handle customer inquiries, feedback, and service issues promptly and professionally.
– Coordinate with Operations to resolve shipment-related issues and ensure service quality.
– Identify and drive upselling and cross-selling opportunities.
– Conduct regular business reviews with key customers to maintain and grow shipment volumes.
3. Key Account Management
– Manage a portfolio of key/strategic accounts as the primary point of contact.
– Develop account plans to increase shipment volume, revenue, and gross profit.
– Coordinate with Operations, Customs, and Pricing teams to provide customized logistics solutions.
– Prepare and negotiate contracts, service agreements, RFQs, and annual tenders.
– Monitor account profitability, credit limits, and payment terms.
4. Quotation & Pricing
– Handle RFQs and prepare accurate, competitive quotations within required timelines.
– Obtain buy rates from carriers, agents, and suppliers and determine selling rates based on target margins.
– Ensure quotations are aligned with Incoterms, service scope, and validity periods.
– Follow up on quotations, negotiate with customers, and convert opportunities into confirmed bookings.
– Maintain quotation records and update freight rate databases.
5. Reporting
– Maintain accurate customer and sales activity records in the CRM system.
– Prepare daily/weekly/monthly sales reports covering revenue, GP, new customers, and pipeline.
– Track sales performance, analyze win/loss results, and provide sales forecasts.
– Provide market intelligence and competitor insights to management.
– Support customer receivables and coordinate with the Accounting team on outstanding payments.
Qualifications
– Bachelor’s/College degree in Business, International Trade, Logistics, Economics, or a related field.
– 1–3 years of sales experience, preferably in freight forwarding or logistics. Strong sales potential may be considered.
– Basic knowledge of import/export, freight forwarding, and Incoterms.
– Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
– Good English communication and email writing skills; additional languages are a plus.
– Proficient in MS Office and CRM systems.
– Proactive, target-oriented, resilient, and able to work effectively under pressure.
– Customer-focused, honest, enthusiastic, and a strong team player.
