If you’re a CDL driver with a few years under your belt and you’ve been thinking about moving into an office role, this is that opportunity. You’ll start behind the wheel learning our operation, then transition into a safety coordinator role where you keep our drivers safe, our fleet compliant, and your weekends your own — while still jumping in a truck once or twice a month when we need coverage. This is a growth position: as you learn our safety systems and take on more responsibility, your pay grows with you.
Your growth path
- First few weeks: Learn our runs from the driver’s seat (about 2–3 days a week) and shadow our safety team.
- Next couple of months: Move into the office. Learn our Motive camera/ELD system, how safety scores work, and the monthly safety bonus program.
- Months 3–6: Take full ownership of the safety coordinator role — coaching drivers, accident response, compliance records, road tests, with occasional driving and dispatch coverage.
- Beyond: For the right person, room to grow into operations and business development.
What you’ll do
- Review daily safety events in Motive (camera, speeding, log errors, unassigned driving, Hours-of-Service).
- Coach drivers and help them improve and maintain strong safety scores.
- Handle accident/injury response — secure details and pull camera footage and log data.
- Maintain compliance records (HOS logs, accident log, roadside inspections and citations).
- Run the monthly driver safety bonus program.
- Administer road tests and driver training.
- Cover open driving runs as needed (about 1–5 times per month) and occasionally cover dispatch.
- Support the shop by test-driving tractors and giving feedback after repairs.
What we’re looking for
- Current CDL with doubles endorsement and a current DOT medical card (required).
- 2–5+ years of driving experience.
- Interest in moving from the road into a primarily office-based role, with flexibility to cover driving occasionally.
- Comfortable learning software systems (Motive, FedEx apps, spreadsheets).
- Dependable, detail-oriented, and good with people — you’ll be coaching drivers.
- Nice to have: prior safety, compliance, or DOT/FMCSA experience. We’ll train the right candidate.
