Position:Roadway Engineer
Infrastructure Consulting & Engineering, LLC (ICE) is seeking aRoadway Engineerto join our design team in Columbia, SC to support various transportation projects in the Southeast. As a Roadway Design Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the design, analysis, and execution of roadway projects, ensuring adherence to SCDOT regulations and standards. Your technical expertise and familiarity with SCDOT policies and procedures will be essential in delivering safe, efficient, and sustainable roadway solutions.
Responsibilities
Develop and review roadway design plans, specifications, and construction details in alignment with SCDOT standards and guidelines.
Conduct on-site visits and assessments to collect pertinent data, identify project constraints, and propose effective roadway solutions.
Collaborate withcross-functional teamsto integrate roadway designs with other project components, such as drainage systems, utilities, and traffic control devices.
Prepare and present reports, drawings, and technical documents related to roadway projects, ensuringprecisionand clarity.
Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software and other relevant tools to create and modify roadway plans and profiles.
Perform engineering calculations and analyses to validate design choices and optimize roadway performance.
Stay updated with SCDOT policies, regulations, and industry best practices, and apply this knowledge to ensure compliance and promoteinnovation.
Assist in preparing cost estimates, project schedules, and bid packages for roadway projects.
Collaborate with stakeholders, including government agencies, contractors, and the public, to address concerns, provide technical support, and ensure project success.
Conduct regular field inspections to monitor construction progress, identify issues, and ensure adherence to project specifications and safety standards.
Qualifications
Experience with conducting site visits, collecting data, and performing field inspections.
Excellent analytical,problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Effective communicationand presentation abilities, with the capability to convey complex technical information todiverseaudiences.
Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to delivering accurate and high-quality work.
Ability to work collaboratively in ateam environmentand manage multiple projects concurrently.
Ability to adapt to new technologies and quickly learn new computer skills.
Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing in English.
Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
